I am not a big fan of the term Etched Damascus
. Many low end knives offer what they call Lazar Etched Damascus. The Condor Blade is Acid Etched and it is Not Just Eye Wash. It has a proven function. The etched Damascus like finish lowers part of the blades surface, thus reducing blade friction when chopping or slicing. Thus one can do more work in less time and with less effort than machetes with traditional blade finishes. The look is very unusual and quite striking.
The blade material is 2 mm surgical quality 420HC Stainless Steel
. The blade is heat treated and tempered to about 53 Rockwell. Special care is taken to give the blade great, spring like, flexibility. The Condor machetes are constantly tested for flexibility, endurance, sharpness and we test our blades against competitive machetes. We know Condor machetes are some of the best in the world!
Two lengths available, 18" and 20". The edges are concave shaped for greater strength and edge retention. They are all hand ground and buffed to razor sharpness. The handle is high impact Polypropylene
, for strength and durability. The handle also features full tang construction, with a metal lanyard eyelet that passes through both the tang and handle for greater strength, than most machetes.
