I live on a small farm in the Ozarks of North Central Arkansas.
The necessity of being prepared was driven home to me during the winter of 2009. We were hit by a major Ice Storm. I was 9 days without Power or Water. Although I drive a FWD I could not get to the highway. As it was the first of the month, I had not done my monthly shopping and there was very little food in the house. I had also failed to stockpile enough wood for my only source of heat which is a wood burning stove. It was a tough 9 days.
